Dental Care At Home Invests In New Dental Software
As a result of its growing family of care homes, Dental Care At Home has made investment in new clinical software to support and streamline its work.
The new IT system, called Systems For Dentists (SFD) is the only dental software system that fully integrates e-prior approval, a system for gaining approval for larger treatment plans from the dental board in Edinburgh.
Business Manager Mark Fowler commented, ‘SFD was the only choice for us; not only did it integrate current full e-dental capabilities, its functionality was perfect for our needs. It has also enabled us to roll out a trial of remote access across our team.
The team can access clinical notes, charts and medical histories whilst away from our main clinic and on site at a Care home via a dedicated secure connection from a laptop. We believe that this is a first in domiciliary dental care provision and will significantly improve our efficiency, reduce paper and provide better value to the NHS for the service that we provide to our care homes.
We can even email resident’s treatment plans direct to the guardian or POA whilst at the home, thus removing the delay in providing information to guardians’. The trial will be run over a period of six months.
